Belly Dance Show Extravaganza

Belly dancing courses teach you the basic principles of the art of belly dance, and all the shimmies, sways, undulations and motions that you need to know in order to put on a performance. At Arabian Rose Belly Dance School, we plan, organise and star in three annual theatre dance shows. Our students are encouraged to attend weekly belly dance lessons to gain the confidence to take centre stage. Our dance shows present solo performances and group demonstrations of classic and traditional styles of Middle Eastern belly dance.

Belly dancing beginners focus on learning the basics, and on gaining body confidence. Level 1 belly dance beginners courses help new dancers to develop body flexibility and fluidity of movement. As a dancer progresses through the developmental courses they naturally begin to feel more and more confident about performing in front of other people. Creating your own choreographies is exciting and fun to do. If you have been belly dancing for some time this is what you will want to do next.
If you feel motivated and ready to step into the limelight at one of our theatre dance shows, putting in some extra belly dance practice is definitely a good idea.

Choreographing Your Own Unique Belly Dance Routine
It’s easier to create a piece of choreography to music that you enjoy listening to. When practicing and creating your own belly dance routines you will feel more confident and motivated if the music moves you.
To choreograph your own routine you may decide to take inspiration from a variety of dance styles. Improvise and try experimenting freestyle to get a feel for the music. You may feel inspired to perform certain repetitive moves to the rhythmic beats. Your dance will naturally begin to evolve, the more that you practice.

Inspirational Moves
It’s fun to practice your own choreography. Use a selection of stage directions and move forwards, backwards, sideways, diagonally, and in the figure eight around the stage to keep your dance interesting. It’s best to avoid too much repetition. Changing levels, by moving your lower or upper body, adds another dimension to your dance and keeps it fresh and unpredictable. If you need further inspiration, watch the videos on the dance shows web page.
Combine the moves and simplify the choreography. Blend simple repetitive movements with a few complicated undulations and tricky moves. Keep practicing until you feel confident that every movement is expressed with feeling. Maintain the audience’s interest by drawing their attention to specific parts of your body when you are showing off your skillful moves. If you direct your gaze to the area of your body, the audience will quickly follow suit.
Once you feel you have mastered the basics of your belly dance show extravaganza, you can turn your attention to thinking about the exotic and colorful custom made belly dance costumes that you will be wearing.
